The fourth section of my book is entitled: “Rebuilding My Foundation.” This section describes how God rebuilt my faulty foundation by revealing to me an accurate view of God, an accurate view of myself, a sinner, and gospel-saturated principles of God’s mercy and grace, which finally worked in my depression.

God kindly, gently and mercifully revealed Himself to me, walking back all the false theology that had been inadvertently taught to me from childhood. Each precious lesson was eye-opening and life-breathing, building upon the lesson which came before. When I finally began to see an accurate view of God, that changed everything.

Songs for Reflection

“The songs in this section and in future chapters will be formatted this way: they list the artist from my playlist who sang the song which was meaningful to me in depression (not necessarily the artist who wrote it) followed by the song(s). I am not necessarily endorsing any of these artists nor all their theology in the songs. But these songs helped me live with my depression in a better way by offering me spiritual insights I could grasp. I hope that these will work as spiritual tools for you and be an added spiritual blessing to you.”

Chapter 35: Responding to Grace

There are 17 songs on the playlist for Chapter 35. The song that is missing is called “Come to Me Again,” sung by Jason Gray, which was on his 2003 album entitled Hoping: Live. It is unfortunate that I could not find any links to that song as it was a really good one.

Chapter 36: Waiting, Submission and Surrender

There are 65 (available) songs on the playlist for Chapter 36, plus 1 bonus video. Waiting, submission and surrender are so important when we suffer. It is important to sing to our hearts and souls songs of surrender to help us in this very difficult process.

Unfortunately, Shannon Wexelberg’s song, “In the Waiting,” is not available on YouTube, but a link to the album is here: https://www.invubu.com/music/show/song/Shannon-Wexelberg/In-The-Waiting.html . The album is available to purchase on Shannon’s site here.

In addition, Chonda Pierce’s song, “My Soul Will Wait,” from the cd version of “A Piece of My Mind,” is not available on YouTube, but the cd and video can still be purchased on Amazon and is probably on eBay.

As mentioned above, the song, “Surrender,” sung by Travis Cottrell on a GreatWorshipSongs.com album is no longer available and no YouTube video is available.

Section 4 describes how God rebuilt my faulty foundation by revealing to me an accurate view of Himself and teaching me gospel-saturated principles of God’s mercy and grace which finally worked in my depression.
